Silhouettes: Immigration/Emigration Through The Eyes Of An Artist
Bay Area Artists Mabel Valdiviezo and Carlos Cartagena explore Real-Life Stories of Immigration/Emigration Using Public Participation, Film and Various Mixed
Media.
Peruvian Filmmaker Mabel Valdiviezo will follow Salvadorian Artist Carlos Cartagena as he travels to major cities throughout the Americas to help immigrants tell the stories of leaving their homelands
and coming to the US. Cartagena works with immigrant populations to create silhouettes of themselves, carrying with them their most precious belongings.
We are thrilled to announce that Silhouettes was among the 10 finalists in WGBH Open Call 2006, 6:55 Shorts
competition. We thank our supporters for helping us to see immigration explored in a new light.
